Enhancement of electrokinetic remediation of lead and copper contaminated soil by combination of multiple modified electrolyte conditioning techniques

نویسندگان

چکیده

Electrokinetic soil remediation is often impeded by the aggregation of small particles, within soil, during procedure. The porous network subsequently clogged which results in immediate process termination. In order to overcome this limitation, feasibility electrokinetic coupled simultaneously with two enhancing techniques was investigated: modified periodic polarity reversal and catholyte pH control. objective keep pores unclogged remove Pb Cu from soil. Citric acid used as anolyte, 1 DCV.cm-1 applied through processing cell. This strategy showed 9.0 times better than that unenhanced electroremediation. It mainly owed to: (i) adjustment kept ideally acid, thus avoiding formation metal hydroxide precipitates could clog pores. (ii) An increase electro osmotic flow due technique. Approximately 96% were removed Duplicate obtained on 10-fold initial heavy metals concentration. combined configuration ensured an path enhanced mechanisms efficiency against pollutants remediation.

Electrokinetic Remediation of Uranium Contaminated Soil by Ion Exchange Membranes

Abstract—The contamination of significant quantities of soils and sediments with uranium and other actinide elements as a result of nuclear activity poses many environmental risks. The electrokinetic process is one of the most promising remediation techniques for sludge, sediment, and saturated or unsaturated soils contaminated with heavy metals and radionuclides. However, secondary waste is a ...
